If you safety concerns about the Bleame eraser or other products, here are some resources for consumers. They may be completely different sellers since this type of mouthwash/toothpaste product is pretty easy to resell or dropship from AliExpress, too, and get your own branding added. Just to be clear, I am all for entrepreneurialism, when it is done honestly. I am a business owner myself and my father is a long time business owner (over 30 years owning a local business).

This product is easy to use and better than a favor. The product works well and has shown me instant results. Everything claimed in the advertisement proved true in my experience.

Absolutely amazing

RoC Vitamin C Serum Review: Can it Brighten Skin?

I keep seeing them pop up in my feed constantly since I’m commenting on a lot of them. And most of the ads I’m seeing are all different and they have pretty high reach. It looks like they are putting money behind their top performing reels. After digging around on Reddit for a bit and seeing others talk about how they had their comments deleted and their accounts blocked by Bleame on social media.

But then I was immediately blocked, so I wouldn’t have been able to even see that comment or send anything. A reader of mine messaged me these screenshots. The Bleame eraser product page still shows a “30-day free trial” and “easy returns” language. Farther down the page, we see it reiterated that they will not accept returns or issue refunds on products that have been used.

However, many of the YouTube reviews we came across mentioned redness and irritation. We consider it to be a red flag that Bleame fails to clearly describe how their device works, because without this information consumers (and researchers like us) can’t assess whether or not it’s likely to be effective. This product did exactly what it said it would. I hate shaving and I’ve always had what I called “plucked chicken” legs. It gets the job done of removing hair, but it leaves me raw and burned. I could not walk the day after using it or let any sort of fabric or anything touch me. I had to use burn lotion on my legs with lidocaine and aloe and take ibuprofen to make it barely tolerable. Companies can ask for reviews via automatic invitations.

As usual, I looked through the comments on their ad to see what people had to say about the product and company. All really positive comments or just questions from people who haven’t tried it yet. So if they change their policy in between the time that you purchased the product and actually received it and used it, then they’re saying it’s still on the customer to be checking the return policy regularly. I also tried this on dry skin on my lower legs and it did ok removing hair, I didn’t seem to have irritation on my lower legs. But I tried this on my upper leg/thigh area on dry skin and had redness the next day, which turned into very rough skin the following 2 days after using it. Double Hair Salon is a beauty salon that serves Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

The Bleame crystal hair eraser can be used on your arms, hands, legs, feet, chest, back and bikini area. Just be sure to patch test it on your arm or legs before going for the more sensitive parts. It’s NOT ideal for your face, neck or underarms, as the skin there is thinner, more sensitive, uneven and and more likely to be distressed by the eraser. I decided to test out the Bleame Crystal Hair Eraser on my legs, and after steaming in the shower, I got out, applied my favorite shaving cream from Refreshments ($9), and got to work. I grabbed the eraser and slowly started to move it in circular motions on a small area on my damp leg. I did this about 15 times, counting in my head, and then moved on to the next section.

This type of “business ownership” by dishonest and deceptive means is wrong and I absolutely do not support it. I went back to the Bleame website several times over the course of a month or 2 to look for my review and I couldn’t find it anywhere. I searched by my name and my rating, and again nothing would come up. So either they are completely blocking or deleting negative reviews, or they are rewriting reviews to be favorable.

If you don't like the Sponge or it doesn't show the desired results, you can return it to the manufacturer within one month. You will get your money back within a few days. Before returning the product, you should contact the manufacturer's support team to find out what steps are necessary to return the product. You can also contact the manufacturer by e-mail. You enter your personal details and choose how many sponges you want to buy. You can place your order using credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Paypal.

Because I'm Pakistani, hair is always on my mind, given that I have so much of it. Sure, there are perks—like the nice, thick hair on my head and bushy eyebrows—but I've always been desperate to get rid of my body hair. While some people may choose not to remove theirs, and that choice is entirely valid, I personally felt self-conscious and, at times, was bullied because of my body hair (kids are vicious, ya know?). That's why I've been trying to enter my naked-mole-rat era since the ripe young age of 12...and I have a bathroom full of razors, hair-removal creams, and at-home laser-hair removal devices to prove it.

Prep Your Skin

Came fast, I've tried all kinds over the years, waxing, and more, this was easy to use and pretty tame on my skin, but not overly sensitive for anything. I love that it smooths out the complexion of my skin! Repeat the process over each desired section, then rinse to reveal smooth, hair free skin. The eraser can be used weekly, but is not recommended (or even needed) for daily use. While the removal of hair roots may not be entirely painless, it is still supposed to be generally more pleasant than all other methods.

Laser Away Laser Hair Removal

Therefore, the Bleame Hair Eraser is definitely an excellent solution for those looking for a simple yet effective way to remove hair roots. The Bleame Sponge is indeed a great way to remove hair roots. Its particular advantage is that it is easy to handle and can be reused anytime. It is also made of an environmentally friendly material, making it a sustainable choice. Bleame has received many customer reviews, with one user describing the Sponge as actual magic. She is enthusiastic about its easy application, claiming that it can be used on different surfaces such as walls, furniture and even tiles.

Consider your skin and hair color.

Interestingly, when I went to check out my comment on that post, they had deleted it. Even on my lower legs where I ended up with no rash from the Bleame, I still had to use quite a bit more pressure to get the hair removed. When using this gently on my skin, it didn’t do much to the hair there.

The manufacturer guarantees that the Bleame Hair Eraser will remove your unwanted hair painlessly. Removing hair should always be possible without pain. When removing body hair, the skin should not be subjected to too much stress. Otherwise, inflammation or reddening of the skin could occur, which will only disappear after a few days. It might sound silly, but I can really go to town on the areas I'm trying to remove hair without fear of nicking or slicing into my skin.

Cymbiotika Review: Are Liposomal Supplements Effective?

After I filed a report against this product through the US Consumer Product Safety Commision, Bleame reached out by email to tell me that I’d be getting a full refund. Surprisingly I did receive my entire refund and they didn’t tell me to send the product back. However I believe it’s only because I filed a report with the consumer product safety commission and raised so much of a stink online through my videos and social posts, blog post, and comments on their posts.

This Instagram post from March 28, 2023, implies using their eraser on the belly is safe and approved, but their website lists the belly as a “no-no” area. The other parts of the Bleame refund policy are also against the UK guidelines, including not asking for a reason (Bleame requires a reason given for refund requests). And UK policy does not say the product has to be unused.

I’m disappointed in myself for falling for this product. I learned about this product a year ago and passed it up thinking is was bogus. Then I saw the advertisement again last week (7days ago) I was going to pass it up again, but instead I bought it. The smoothness, it’s been 2 days and no hair growth yet!

So I came across a few videos on TikTok showing people’s injuries with the Bleame and decided to add some links here so you can see injuries others have experienced with the hair eraser. This did not work near my bikini area at all on dry skin, and I wasn’t about to use it with wet skin to test it more. Since this post was getting super long with all the updates I added, I took the portion about Booty Boost Mask and added it to a new blog post along with updates on their newest product, the Skin Sonic.

Today my legs are still burning, weeping and starting to scab over. I followed the instructions, yet my legs were red raw, bleeding in places and felt like they were on fire. Everything that touches them hurts, even a slight breeze. I'm currently in the process of trying to get a refund. Bleame asked for photos of the issue, which I've sent, and haven't heard anything back yet. I'm hoping to get my refund which I'm apparently entitled to.

You should be able to wear dresses and shorts again in the summer without having to reach for the razor or epilator. If you want baby-soft skin with minimal effort, the Bleame Crystal Hair Eraser was made for you. It's cost-effective, quick to use, and will leave you with skin just as smooth (if not smoother) than if you were using a traditional razor. If you have super bony legs, you might find it uncomfortable and hard to navigate, but if not, I think you'll fall in love with the Bleame Crystal Hair Eraser. I plan on using it for the next year until I'm due for a refill. I’m going to be brutally honest and just come out and say it, based on my experience and everything I have dug up, I personally believe that Bleame is a scam.

Avoid at all costs unless you like stress and pain. Suggested companies are based on people’s browsing tendencies. Yes, it does, but you have to use some elbow grease. It definitely works on my shins, but for fleshier places (calves, hamstrings, quads), I had difficulty removing the hair. I think because the fleshier parts are more "springy," it's hard to really scrub in that circular motion without my skin moving around, if that makes sense. I think Bleame should work on a more ergonomic design that accommodates the curves and "spring" of our bodies.

It's alomst good but could use some improvement. It could be faster and have more specific information. The website was easy to use and things were welll organised. However I had to search a lot to find what I was looking for, and navigating the website wasn't that intuitve. I'm not sure what made them stand out from other companies.

It also provides hair coloring services, such as base tint, toner, gloss, blonding, balayage, and highlights. Its team of colorists also specializes in color correction, bleach, and tone retouch services. Additionally, it is a certified Green Circle Salon that recycles 95% of its salon waste. Society was featured on Elle, InStyle, Allure, and Byrdie magazines. Sono Felice by Christine has been serving customers in Los Angeles since 2020. It offers custom hair services for men, women, and children, including haircuts, shampooing, and conditioning.

It is, therefore, worthwhile to place a collective order. According to the manufacturer, Bleame hair removal tool is a high-quality and functional device. And even though this Facebook page was created on January 20th (1 day after their website was registered), in less than 2 months they supposedly have managed to accumulate 4K likes and 4K followers already. Seems suspicious, just like the unlikely product reviews on the BeBleame website. It’s also worth noting that the BeBleame.com site was also copied from the original Bleame.com website since the original Bleame mission statement for “hygienic care” is still in the footer of the pet hair removal website.

My lower legs below my knees did fine with the hair eraser, but my arms and inner thigh got a rash (it was not near my bikini line either). As I mentioned before, also tried using this on my upper left arm with shaving cream on wet/damp skin since they mention using shaving cream. It seemed to do better at first, but the next day I still had redness and irritation there (just not quite as bad as on my right arm). Even when using this as directed, the chances of getting irritation are pretty high since telling people “not to use too much pressure” (as Bleame and similar companies do) is difficult to quantify.

70s hair mens

So, embrace the groovy and funky spirit of the 70s, and let your haircut be a vibrant reflection of your personality and the era that continues to inspire. It’s hard not to notice the recent resurgence of '70s men's hairstyles everywhere. This revival seamlessly blends vintage charm with a modern aesthetic, celebrating a time period where hairstyles symbolized rebellion, individuality, and confidence.

Short Feathered

Professional hair stylist Megan gives her advice on the best hairstyles to adopt if you are experiencing thinning hair. “Bleaching, perming, and extreme hold hair sprays contain harsh chemicals that can cause hair loss by damaging the hair follicles and strands. Certain chemicals found in shampoos, conditioners, hair dyes, and styling products can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness, breakage, and hair loss. Aside from dreads, lots of other protective styles also grew in popularity in the 70s, such as braids and twists. These aren’t as thick as dreadlocks, so they were much finer and gave more room for creative styling. Some men would put colorful beads at the ends of their braids and twists to add extra spice to their overall look.

The Feathered Look: A Style that Bridged Gaps

The conservative styles of the 1960s were left behind, replaced by looks that symbolized rebellion, individualism, and a desire for self-expression. The influence of music icons like David Bowie and the growing popularity of disco further fueled these trends. Equal parts shag, feathered, and layered, this look all comes down to the hair’s natural texture. If you truly do wake up like this, more power to you, but otherwise, run a lightweight styling cream through your hair when it’s towel-dried and damp and let air dry. "Square faces and jawlines work amazingly with this medium shag and feathered look," he said. However, getting it right at first can be tricky thanks to its complex layers, so he advises seeing a seasoned stylist.

Opting for a perm can give those with thin, straight hair volume and bounce that will allow you to elevate your look. “Perms are achieved through a chemical process, and with great curls comes great responsibility.” Be sure to keep your curls hydrated with regular care. Featuring a strong side part and loose structure, this quintessential '70s look is something Bilal says is easily adaptable to both formal and casual affairs. Perhaps the original "set it and forget it" style, it basically works with your natural wave. Simply work in a little styling cream for hydration and blow dry to your desired style. In a decade that began with Robert Plant and ended with David Lee Roth, it was filled with men trying to copy their rock hair.

The pompadour hairstyle had a resurgence in the 70s, thanks to style icons like Elvis Presley. This bold and stylish cut featured short sides and a voluminous, slicked-back top. It exuded a sense of confidence and sophistication, making it a popular choice for men who wanted to make a statement. The pompadour represented a blend of classic elegance and contemporary flair, capturing the essence of the 70s aesthetic. In the 1970s, medium hair became an effortless allure for men’s hairstyles. It’s an informal fashion; it is versatile and can be worn to various activities.

In the defining men’s hairstyle of the 70s, afros are still present in pop culture today. From a political symbol to an accessory at any disco-themed party, this look was everywhere! It may be casual but it adds flair nonetheless because not many people can pull off such a cool style like yours.

For instance, in most states in America, the tousled blond and surfer haircuts were considered quite stylish and popular among little boys and young men. Sideburns were also very popular but were mostly worn by grown-up guys. Popular styles like the shag, afro, and long hair with a center part are being updated with shorter lengths and more defined cuts. The volume and texture of ’70s hairstyles can be achieved with the help of hair products like mousse and hair spray. It represents a celebration of personal style, a rebellion against traditional grooming norms, and a nod to a decade that left a lasting impact on fashion, pop culture, and men’s grooming. Burst Fade Haircuts Redefining Men’s Fashion

From rock ‘n’ roll performers to fashion-forward trendsetters, the pompadour became a signature style that epitomized the essence of 70s menswear and grooming. Men’s hair was rocked long until the mid-’70s when everything changed following the hippie lifestyle. As opposed to the shaggy haircuts of the ’60s, most ’70s men’s haircuts were styled with soft and long layers.

These elongated sideburns and mutton chops added a rebellious and distinctive touch to men’s grooming. Sideburns became a cultural symbol of rebellion, personal style, and a tribute to the rock-and-roll movement. The 70s were a time of cultural shifts fueled by significant events such as the civil rights movement, the feminist movement, and the anti-establishment sentiment. These cultural shifts had a profound impact on men’s hairstyles, as they became a symbol of rebellion and personal expression. In the 1970s, curly hair became a defining characteristic for many men in the public eye, reflecting a broader trend towards natural and unstructured hairstyles.

Yes, 70s hairstyles seem to be making a comeback with many celebrities and the youth sparking trends again. 70s hairstyles had several different names, with some popular ones being The Shag and the ‘rude boy’ look. Several moral and social customs and regulations tried to dictate what men’s hair should look like, with an emphasis on and approval of shorter and cropped cuts.

Embrace the cultural resurgence of ’70s hairstyles with dedicated grooming and the right products. Whether it’s a shag, an afro, or a feathered look, men can turn to styling products to bring their hair to life, adding a touch of rebelliousness and personal flair. Today, the beard remains a powerful facial hair choice, symbolizing individuality, masculinity, and a cultural resurgence of rebellion.

However, note that this is not a haircut you can create within a short time. It is time-consuming, and you need to be patient if you want the best results. Embrace the evolution of 70s hairstyles and make a statement with your own unique twist. Today, sideburns continue to make a statement, reflecting a revival of 70s spirit and a celebration of individuality.

Top 20 Red Curly Hairstyles of the Year

The 70s gave birth to a new breed of rockstars, and with them came the shaggy rocker haircut. Bands like Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones rocked this carefree and tousled style, which featured long, layered hair with a natural flow. This effortlessly cool look was perfect for headbanging on stage or strumming the guitar with attitude. This signature look was characterized by long, layered hair that flowed naturally, exuding an effortlessly cool vibe. The shaggy rocker cut was more than just a hairstyle; it became a symbol of rebellion and free-spirited self-expression.

Hairstyles for Men: An Awesome Vintage Comeback

From sleek and straight hair to voluminous and long hairstyles, 70s hairstyles have undergone transformations that reflect the ever-changing fashion landscape. Whether it’s the natural curl of an Afro or the layered waves of a shag, texture adds a lot of character to a hairstyle. They can help you achieve that perfect 70s look, whether glossy shine or a voluminous, feathered style. "Very on trend right now," Bilal says of the wet look for curly hair, adding that the loose fringe and long style work with any face shape and facial hair—especially a handlebar mustache. Bilal recommends using a simple curling cream and drying with a diffuser for the best definition. Numerous shows not only reflected the fashion and hairstyles of the era but also played a significant role in shaping pop culture.

Popular Short Haircuts For Men

If you were born with curly hair and grew up in the 70s, you were living it up as guys tried to copy your natural style. Worn by Rastafarians and popularized by 70s reggae musicians like Bob Marley, dreadlocks attracted those who love Mother Earth and her natural “herbs”. Out of all the 70s men’s haircuts, this one takes the most time to perfect. Despite the common misconception, you do have to wash your hair to get dreads.

This undying reduction perfectly combines commercial enterprise and birthday party vibes. With an immediate front and playful length in the back, you can experience the party anywhere. Women in the 70s were obsessed with blow-dryers and round brushes that made the ends of their hair fly away from their faces, adding volume to their locks. But instead of using a curling cream or gel to make his curls look defined, he went the low-maintenance route and simply brushed it out. But back in the 70s, a lot of men wore their hair this way, especially in professional settings where everyone was expected to look tidy and put-together. While medium and shoulder-length hair was modern among men in the 70s, some men took it a step further and grew out their hair until it touched their torso and even their waist.

Straight Mullet with Sideburns

The epitome of effortless chic, it gives off a casual and comfy atmosphere. Shags are for men who need to revel in fashion without searching like they’re attempting too hard. For those who wanted a touch of rebellion without going full punk, the Faux Hawk was the perfect choice. It featured shorter sides while the hair in the center was styled to stand upright, creating a subtle but edgy appearance. This hairstyle allowed men to showcase their individuality with a hint of attitude. The Mullet, famously known as “business in the front, party in the back,” was a haircut that defined individuality.

The Afro: A Celebration of Natural Texture

Beards also found popularity during this era, especially among musicians and artists seeking to break from conventional grooming norms. The full beard was embraced by figures like George Lucas, reflecting a more rugged and individualistic style. Lucas’ beard became part of his signature look as a visionary filmmaker. Among the icons of the 1970s, figures such as Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Bjorn Borg, Rex Smith, and Leif Garrett championed long hair. Their influence helped popularize this style, setting a new precedent for men’s grooming during this era. Sporting long hair was a tangible expression of challenging the conventional boundaries of appearance.

This bright orange, for example, works with a razor cut mullet and a bald fade to create an edgy punk 70s haircut. If you were blessed with thick hair, ask your barber for short to medium-length layers. This style takes a little more work since it involves a blow-dryer, but with a comb and some mousse, you’ll get a great vintage look.

Easy, Messy Man Bun

In the early 70s, hairstyles were characterized by sleek and straight hair, a departure from the curly styles of the previous decade. As we delve into the re-emergence of 70s hairstyles, it’s important to highlight some of the most iconic men’s haircuts of that era and their modern-day revival. The 70s saw a resurgence of individuality, rebellion, and personal style, manifested in various hairstyles. And now, in the 21st century, these 70s hairstyles are returning, bringing a touch of nostalgia and a vintage charm to the modern fashion landscape.

Start by working a light hydrating product through damp hair, then blow dry while making a scrunching motion with your hands to encourage volume and texture. One of the best part about sporting dreadlocks is how versatile they can be. Miguel has perfected this art, rocking his signature part-up, part-down layered locs to add a slightly carefree edge to his otherwise put-together sense of style. Long, tousled hair is easy enough to grow provided you’ve got the patience, but the real challenge comes in finding the difference between free and messy.

Any type of hair thinning can feel particularly worrying, especially if the reason behind it is unknown, therefore it’s important to understand what might be causing the issue. Dr Bhavini Shah from LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor explains eight possible causes of thinning hair in women. Thinning hair and hair loss can be stressful, especially for women who normally have a lot of hair, triggering feelings of shame or insecurity. Thinning hair in women can occur at any age and can take different forms, such as minor thinning on the crown of the head or complete baldness.

From fashion to music, the 70s were a transformative era that left an indelible mark on history. And when it comes to men’s fashion, hairstyles were one of the most iconic aspects of that era. Today, we’re seeing a revival of vintage styles, with 70s men’s haircuts making a comeback.

A perm includes a fade on the sides with wavy or curly hair at the top. In the 70s, this perm was mainly short curly hair with shorter sides, although there are now several versions of the perm among men. Disco hairstyles included slightly long hair and perms, although this definition changed and started referring to voluminous slicked back hair like that of John Travolta. While the style was important, maintaining the hair’s health was also a priority.

So either she gets tough and risks inflaming tension on campus or she holds back and does nothing and her words before Congress immediately look hollow. They were asked very pointed questions about the kind of speech taking place on their campuses, and they gave really convoluted academic answers back that just baffled the committee. But there was one question that really embodied the kind of disconnect between the Committee — And it wasn’t just Republicans, Republicans and Democrats on the Committee — and these college presidents. The protesters have at times chanted chanted “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which is widely viewed as the eradication of Jews in Israel. Protests such as the one at GW have been criticized by many as being antisemitic and sometimes violent.

Yes, I’m capable of love and affection — just toward other humans only. After all, I came to visit you because I care about you, not her. If you’re afraid of animals, it’s probably best to avoid them altogether. There’s no shame in being fearful of them, and there’s no reason to force yourself to be around them if you’re not comfortable.

The problem with that is that, over the weekend, a series of images start to emerge from on campus and just off of it of some really troubling anti-Semitic episodes. In one case, a guy holds up a poster in the middle of campus and points it towards a group of Jewish students who are counter protesting.

If you’re allergic to pets, it’s probably best to avoid them altogether. This isn’t always easy, especially if you have a pet yourself, but it’s important to do what’s best for your health. If you can’t avoid contact with pets, be sure to take medication and have an emergency plan in place in case you have a severe reaction. Many people do, but there are also plenty of people out there who don’t share your enthusiasm. Some people really dislike animals and will go out of their way to avoid them.

Can Dog Fleas Live On Humans?

Ultimately, whether or not you believe in the sentiment behind “I don’t trust people who don’t love animals,” it’s clear that our relationships with animals can have a powerful impact on our perceptions of ourselves and others. And from the administration’s perspective, they say, well, yeah, you can say that and you can think that. But maybe there’s some bad apples in your ranks. Or though you may have good intentions, you’re saying things that you don’t realize the implications of. And they’re making this environment unsafe for others.

Pets require a lot of time and effort, and not everyone is willing or able to put in that kind of commitment. If you think animals are dirty, you might want to consider getting a pet that doesn’t need to be groomed regularly, such as a fish or reptile. Pets are messy; you might want to consider getting a pet that doesn’t require as much care, such as a fish.

They can be a lot of work, they can be noisy, and they can be dirty. If you’re not prepared for all that, it’s best to stay away. If you’re one of those people, it’s best to stay away from pets altogether. There’s no point in trying to get a pet if you’re not going to take care of it and you’re not going to enjoy it.

That reality, that taking a different tack that was supposed to be full of learnings and lessons from the stumbles of her peers, the fact that didn’t really work suggests that there’s something really intractable going on here. So students who aren’t feeling safe in this protest environment don’t necessarily have to go to class.

It’s easy to understand how a person could not develop any kind of an attachment to a pet if they have no life associations with them. Believe it or not, my family dog was considered an “outdoor” dog as I was growing up. “Tippy” was allowed to come in the back door but could go no further than the utility room or just inside the adjacent kitchen (where there was tile flooring), but he certainly was not allowed on the carpet. We spent lots of time with our dog outdoors, though, and have some great memories of our life with him. My Mom loved pets and she would call Tippy in every evening to have a good warm meal and to sleep in a comfy bed – in the utility room, of course.

Stop Judging Me for Not Liking Dogs

Training them, feeding them, making sure they get exercise, cleaning up after them, paying for vet visits, etc. all sounds so goddamn exhausting. Similar to service animals, having an ESA letter allows the animal entry into public and residential spaces where ordinary pets are restricted. Owners can obtain an ESA letter through a consultation with a licensed mental health professional. One downside of pet ownership is the stressful task of finding your dream rental housing that allows your four-legged friends. Sadly, according to the Humane Society, one of the main reasons pets are given up to animal shelters is because of housing problems. Many people don’t like pets because they can be very loud.

The trick to living downtown aurally undisturbed is to rent a luxury loft high above the city. Anywhere above the 15th floor with tightly fitted windows works nicely; anywhere below, you’ll still be taking a gamble, especially if your building is anywhere near a club or concert hall. Maybe rent an apartment that doesn’t face the street.

Introduced a few years ago, scooting became indoctrinated in our downtown city lifestyle almost overnight. However, our pet peeve is when people leave their scooters in the middle of the sidewalk, when scooters ride in the middle of traffic, or when some people scoot on the sidewalks, demanding pedestrians move or face destruction.

If you’ve ever stepped in a pile of poop in the middle of the city or had to step over a line of urine, you know that some pet owners sometimes – don’t give a doggie biscuit about the needs of others. Good pet owners, however, adhere to 3 simple rules that keep our pet community thriving. Good pet owners keep their pets on the leash to ensure they don’t get in the way of passersby’s, run over by cars, bite other pets, or poop in undesignated areas. Two, good pet owners always pick up their pet’s poop and wash away urine. Three, good pet owners wipe their pet’s feet when they get home. Miss any of these steps, and it could turn out to be a pet catastrophe.

It’s at this moment that they set out to build their encampment. Nick, if we rewind the clock a few months, we end up at a moment where students at several of the country’s best known universities are protesting Israel’s response to the October 7 attacks, its approach to a war in Gaza. At times, those protests are happening peacefully, at times with rhetoric that is inflammatory. And the result is that the leaders of those universities land before Congress.

Do they hold back, like at Harvard, where there were dramatic videos of students literally running into Harvard yard with tents. And so Columbia, really, I think, at the end of the day, may have kicked off some of this. But they are now in league with a whole bunch of other universities that are struggling with the same set of questions.

Greene & Greene Virtual Archives: About The Gamble House

The Gamble House uses teak, oak, maple, mahogany, and cedar to incorporate contrasting colors, grains, and textures. Wood details include custom built-ins, inlays, and an exposed interlocking joint staircase. The brothers studied metal and woodworking at the Manual Training School of Washington University in St. Louis and graduated in 1888. In 1893, their parents moved to Pasadena, California, and asked their sons to relocate.

The teak panels aren't screwed into the wall; the builders used a technique called a scarf joint, which wedged the panels together. Some of the panels, if not screwed into the walls, are actually hidden doors. One panel in the front hallway opens up, which allowed servants to enter and leave the downstairs kitchen.

The Gamble House: Style

The roofing materials were also replaced using replica materials crafted specifically for this important project. Charles Greene and Henry Greene were selected by the Gambles to build the Gamble House. The work of Greene and Greene was unparalleled, and the architects were well known in the area of Park Place for their exquisite attention to detail. Greene and Greene worked hand in hand with the Gambles to design their winter getaway. They broke ground in March 1908, and the construction of the home began. The Gamble House was commissioned in early 1908 by David and Mary Gamble to be used as a winter retreat.

Craftsman Masterpiece

The architects worked closely with the Gambles in the design of the house, incorporating specific design elements such as the family crest among its motifs. Drawings for the house were completed in February 1908, and ground was broken in March. Ten months later, the house was finished, the first pieces of custom furniture were delivered, and The Gamble House became home to David Gamble, his wife Mary, and their youngest son Clarence. (Their oldest son Cecil was already working for Procter & Gamble; their middle son Sidney had just started at Princeton University.) Mary’s younger sister, Julia, also came to live with the family.

Karla was then connected with the Executive Director, Ted Bosely, and other Gamble House staff, to start the conversation about the icebox. During her tour, she mentioned that the icebox in the cold room was too small for the house. Nancy asked if that if anyone came across a larger icebox to please contact the Gamble House and let them know.

The three-story house was finished ten months later and the family was able to move in. The Gamble House is architecturally significant as the best example of builders Greene and Greene's work in the Los Angeles area. The architecture represents one of the best examples of the Arts and Crafts style and California Bungalow style of architecture.

In the Gamble House, the two brothers could explore the full possibilities of this vision for clients who appreciated and could afford it. That their work was no longer in demand by 1915 is as much due to changing fashions (including the rise of interior decorators), as it was to the wartime economy and the high cost of materials and labor. Charles moved with his family to Carmel-by-the-Sea in 1916, where he continued some design work, though at a slower pace.

The Details

Similarly, the home’s Japanese metal lanterns, which differ from traditional designs, are adorned with art glass. The interior of the Gamble House is paneled lavishly in exotic hardwoods—Burmese teak in the entry hall and living room and Honduras mahogany in the dining room. Built-in cabinetry and myriad other features betray meticulous attention to detail, both functional and aesthetic, with due appreciation for and a deep understanding of materials and their appropriate uses. Studying together, the Greenes had three years of polytechnic instruction at the Manual Training School of Washington University in St. Louis prior to their formal architectural training at MIT from 1888 to 1891. H. Richardson in Boston before heading out to California to visit their parents in 1893. The drawings of the house were completed in February of 1908, the site ground-broken in March, and ten months later the house was completed and the first custom-built piece of furniture delivered.

The Gamble house incorporates Craftsman design in combination with deep Japanese influence. It is one of America’s most stunning house museums, and is a treasure to all who experience it’s beauty. Currently owned by the City of Pasadena and operated by the University of Southern California, the Gamble House is open to the public for tours. "An architect is a builder employing the process of art," Charles Greene once wrote. This is proven to be their governing belief, not only in the final product but also throughout the process. The brothers were known to veer from the initial blueprints, showing that they were enthralled with transition and process, the blueprints as a point of departure rather than a set of instructions.

The woods, the low and horizontal room shapes, and the natural light that filters through the art glass exterior windows coexist with a relatively traditional plan, in which most rooms are regularly shaped and organized around a central hall. Although the house is not as spatially adventurous as the contemporary works of Frank Lloyd Wright, or even of the earlier New England "Shingle style," its mood is casual and its symmetries tend to be localized. Craftsman architecture features many hard-carved wood millwork details, including trims, columns, and decorative elements.

It wasn’t until 1948 (over two decades since they closed their architecture firm) that they received recognition from the Pasadena Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. In 1952, they earned praise from the national AIA level for creating a “new and native architecture.” The two brothers died in the late 1950s. The Gamble House is one of the finest surviving examples Greene and Greene designs because it is so intact. Yet, at its core, the Gamble House is a “Western” home, explained Jennifer Trotoux, director of collections and interpretation at the Gamble House.

If his last name sounds familiar, it is because his family was connected to the Proctor and Gamble Company. The Gambles lived most of the year in Cincinnati, Ohio, and their love of the outdoors motivated them to commission and build this home in an attempt to get out of Ohio during the cold winter months. The Gambles had visited Pasadena many times prior to commissioning the home, and they often stayed in the luxury hotels that surrounded the area. They purchased the lot on Westmoreland Place in 1908, where the Gamble House would be constructed. This was not the most popular place in town to build during the period, and the Gambles chose it specifically instead of the much more posh neighborhood of South Orange Grove, which was referred to in town as Millionaires' Row.

Their father was a physician studying the effects of sunlight and fresh air on health, which would influence the indoor-outdoor connections of their designs. While traveling to California, the Greene brothers stopped at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, where they saw an exhibit on Japanese architecture. This experience would also significantly impact the architects’ signature works. The Gamble House was the best known of the Greene Brothers’ “ultimate bungalows,” a Pasadena house type notable for its grand scale, meticulous craftsmanship and range of architectural influences. Stained Tiffany glass windows and carved wood rails remind visitors of Japanese screens and houses, with their simple but impressive interiors.

The living room was designed without any entry doors so that the room would be as open and inviting as possible. It also consisted of a spacious sitting room, which was decorated with five rugs that were designed by Charles Greene using watercolor. Across from the fireplace, there is a window that leads to the terrace, which overlooks the garden. The expansive window was designed to let light brighten the room during the late afternoon.

At night, the glow of the lanterns bounces off the surrounding lily ponds and quiet pools that adorn the landscaping creating a tranquil and serene environment.
